Do you know what real worship is?

"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand: to execute vengeance...Praise ye the Lord." - Psalms 149:6-9

One afternoon, I invited some friends over for a barbeque. After dinner, we began to play Bible Trivia, and before long we began to talk about the goodness of God. I sensed the Spirit of God moving in an unusual way, when suddenly we found ourselves deeper in worship on our face before God in the living room. It was extraordinary, one of those times we are sure if you were to open your eyes, Jesus would be standing in the midst of the room.

Hours seemed like minutes as we prayed intensely in the Spirit when something amazing happened. I clearly felt as if something that had gripped me from my feet up to my head had been released - something like chains. It was as if a bondage that had held me so tightly before was now gone.

I did not realize it at the time, but what took place was in the power of praise. While worshiping and prais…

Words That Last

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." - Matthew 24:35

If my thoughts, philosophies, ideas, or reasoning are built on anything but the Word of God, they are nothing but sinking sand. They will not produce the promises God has guaranteed me in His Word. I must get rid of my old ways of thinking. I must build a new thought process based upon the Word of God.

That means that no matter what my teachers, my friends, my family, or even my pastors say, it is not going to matter unless it is in alignment and in agreement with the Word of God. God's Word produces God's promises. We are to be changed from glory to glory.

Paul tells us to be changed by the renewing of our mind. The word renew also can mean renovation. A few years ago we had a portion of our home renovated. It was quite a process and an undertaking. We had to repair, restore, take away the old, and make new. The Holy Spirit is the foreman of the construction site over your life, a…

First Place

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:33

Everything operates with the world's system or God's system, which we call His kingdom. Our marriages, our relationships, our cares, our ministries, our finances - all these are operating in one system or the other. If we want "all these things" - the promises of God - added to our life, then we have to seek the kingdom of God first. That is not as easily done as said, because seeking, in itself, can be very frustrating. Nobody seeks just for the sake of seeking. There must be a good deal of desperation to push us through the seeking process.

But once we are determined to seek, what is it that we are seeking? "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." But what is the kingdom of God? The word "kingdom" is to be understood as "the dominion is of the king." So the "kingdom of God" refers to the way the King o…

The Divine Transfer

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7
In today's busy and hectic schedule you may find yourself facing the pressure of being a single mother, the pressure of raising your children, or the pressure of trying to balance your finances. The fact remains that despite all our convenient amenities, life is not any easier, and issues are not any simpler. We are all trying to find answers and relief from stress. Suicide and divorce are all too common in today's churches, let alone in our society. But there are real answers for tough questions.
You can give your care over to God, and He will never fail you. He will destroy every yoke that will try to weigh you down. The counselor can bring temporary relief, but only God can permanently remove it. What so many people have a hard time doing is letting go of their pain and giving it to God. I  know that is hard to believe, but it is true. Why is it like this? Does God have an answer? Can you find …

Bury Your Past

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:13-14

The apostle Paul reflects in this passage that he has not yet arrived, but there is one thing that is imperative for him to do: in order to go forth, he must forget the past. He must let go of all his yesterdays. Whether yesterday was good or bad, he must release it.

Like Paul, you cannot enter your tomorrow as long as you hold on to your past. You must let it go. That may sound easier said than done. For some, your past may contain brokenness, disappointment, and scars from life's tragedy. So what will it take to let it go? Are you ready to have a funeral, bury your past? Your tomorrow does not need to end up like your yesterdays. In fact, it is a tragedy to plan your future by comparing it to yo…

I Am Reminded

"Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Have you ever looked at old photos of yourself from days gone past and had someone say, "That does not even look like you." Did you ever go to your class reunion and say to yourself about someone you are trying to remember, " I cannot remember your name, but your face looks familiar." That is what the devil tries to do with your past. He tries to make you remember what you used to look like and then tries to put a mirror to your face and see if you will go down memory lane.

Only the devil will bring up your past. The Bible says that God has cast your sins as far as the east is from the west. Corrie Ten Boom once said, God cast your sins into the sea of forgetfulness and then put up a sign that said, "No Fishing." When we try to mention our past to God, He looks at His day timer from the day in question and says, "All I can see is blood stains."

You a…

Time To Shine

"But we glory in tribulations" Romans 5:3

To have a testimony, you must first go through a test. What looks like a mess is your make up for miracles. For supernatural glory to be manifested, you must realize that your testing is not for your benefit alone, but for His glory to be made known in you. The Apostle Paul went through persecution, attacks, mockery, abandonment, stoning, and great opposition; but his journey through this daily life was like a walk down "Hell Boulevard."

The word glory is "doxa" in the Greek. It means God's praise or God's integrity. When Paul said we glory in tribulation, he meant that despite what comes our way, we can go through it with peace, with joy and with God's arms wrapped around us. But you cannot appreciate someone's glory until you know his or her story.

The man who wrote one-third of the New Testament, the man who knew several languages, who was educated to the highest degree of his day was shunned a…

Forgiven

"But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:26

When I was five years old my father committed suicide. From the age of six to thirteen, I was physically, mentally and sexually abused. Over the years, I have been able to see hundreds of people set free from a similar past. Many have asked me how I was able to overcome all the tragedies that had come against me.

I did not hear the gospel until I was eighteen years old. When I got saved, I discovered a powerful principle, it is the art of forgiveness. I found out that to be free, I must forgive. Maybe you have not been molested or abused, but you are bound by something that has happened to you. Do you know that you must forgive those who have harmed you?

For years I confessed that I had forgiven those who did harm against me; but one day I realized that I had tried to forgive, but was not free. Then God spoke to me, "Paula, you have tried it with your strength; n…
